This set-up guide will help you to configure your computer to access the Studentenstadt network as well as the Internet. Before attempting to connect to the Internet please read the terms of use, which can be found at the end of your housing contract.

To access the Internet you will require a computer with an ethernet connector. Additionally, you will need a network cable to connect your computer to the network outlet located on the wall of your room. If you do not have a network cable, you can purchase a cable from the StuStaNet~e.V. or from stores, for example Conrad, Media Markt or Saturn. See below for more information.

You are responsible for your computer's network activity. You must ensure that it does not pose a threat to any other computer on the network and that it is secured and protected from possible virus- and malware infection. If the StuStaNet~e.V. detects that your computer is infected by a virus and poses a threat to the computer network, your Internet connection will be cut off.

In StuSta, there is no central WiFi available, but everyone can install his or her own access point. The StuStaNet~e.V. sells preconfigured routers during the opening hours.
\section*{Membership in the StuStaNet~e.V.}
There are two ways to use the internet. Without membership, access is possible via the proxy server. This must be configured for every application, if supported. Some software doesn't support manual proxy setup, for example WhatsApp or League of Legends.
To use this software a membership is necessary.

As a member, access is provided via our NAT gateway. The configuration of the proxy then can be omitted. Additional services \footnote{\url{https://wiki.stusta.de/Dienste}} like your own e-mail address, webspace with PHP and database support or Wi-Fi in outdoor areas and community facilities \footnote{\url{https://stustanet.de/en/wifi/}} are also available for members of the StuStaNet~e.V. Membership requires a \textbf{one-time} fee of \EUR{20}. To become a member, please register at \mbox{\url{https://reg.stustanet.de}} and put the signed application form in our mailbox (in House 10). The postal address is: Hans-Leipelt-Straße 7, 80805 München.

The office hours take place in House 10, room 002 (basement). Normally Thursdays 19:00-19:30 and at the beginning of the semester additionally Mondays 19:00-19:30. During public holidays there are no office hours.

\subsection*{Connecting a computer or a router with the network outlet}
To successfully connect to the Internet you need to follow these steps:

\item The Internet settings are set automatically using DHCP
\item (Non-members only) Enter proxy information~/ proxy script into your Web browser

Just use the \emph{left} network outlet.\\
If problems during the setup occur, please visit the page \mbox{\url{http://selftest.stustanet.de}}, while you are connected to the nonfunctional network. You receive a report. If the page is unavailable or you receive an error message, then the configuration is wrong.\\

The DNS Server addresses are \textbf{10.150.127.2} and \textbf{10.150.125.2}, the Subnet mask is \textbf{255.255.255.0} (subnet prefix length is \textbf{24}). You can find your IP address on the sticker on the network outlet. Also you should have received a note containing your network settings with your rental agreement. If the sticker is unreadable or missing and you did not get the note containing the networksettings, please refer to the administration or visit one of our office hours.
\item Click on Advanced and click on the DNS tab. Type \textbf{stusta.mhn.de} in the DNS suffix for this connection field.

Dies ist eine Beschreibung, wie Sie ihren Computer an das Netzwerk der Studentenstadt anschließen. Lesen Sie vorher die Benutzerordnung gründlich durch, die Sie mit ihrem Mietvertrag erhalten haben.

Sie benötigen einen Computer mit LAN-Kabelanschluss, und ein LAN-Kabel zum Anschluss des Computers an der im Zimmer angebrachten Netzwerkdose. Diese Kabel können im Fachhandel oder auch beim StuStaNet~e.V. während der Sprechstunde (siehe weiter unten) erworben werden.

Jeder, der seinen Computer an das Netzwerk der Studentenstadt anschließt, ist dafür verantwortlich, dass dadurch keine anderen Rechner im Netzwerk gefährdet werden. Dazu gehört seinen Rechner vor Viren oder anderer Schadsoftware zu schützen.
Der StuStaNet~e.V. betreibt eine Schadsoftwareerkennung, die Anschlüsse bei Auffälligkeiten aufgrund von Virenbefall vorübergehend sperrt.

In der StuSta gibt es kein zentrales WLAN, allerdings kann jeder selbst einen Access Point betreiben. In den Einstellungen des Routers/AP muss eine der Zimmer-IPs, sowie Gateway, Subnetzmakse und DNS eingestellt werden. Der StuStaNet~e.V. verkauft für die StuSta passend vorkonfigurierte Geräte in der Sprechstunde (nur an Mitglieder).

\section*{Mitgliedschaft StuStaNet~e.V.}
Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten im Internet zu surfen. Ohne Mitgliedschaft ist der Zugang über den Proxyserver möglich. Dieser muss bei jeder Applikation eingestellt werden, falls dies unterstützt wird. Einige Software unterstützt die manuelle Proxyeinrichtung nicht, zum Beispiel Programme wie WhatsApp oder League of Legends. Damit diese funktionieren ist eine Mitgliedschaft notwendig.

Als Mitglied erfolgt der Zugang über unser NAT-Gateway. Die Konfiguration des Proxys kann dann entfallen. Außerdem stehen für Mitglieder des StuStaNet~e.V. weitere Dienste \footnote{\url{https://wiki.stusta.de/Dienste}} wie eine eigene E-Mail-Adresse, Webspace mit PHP und Datenbankunterstützung oder WLAN in Außenbereichen und Gemeinschaftseinrichtungen \footnote{\url{https://stustanet.de/de/wifi/}} zur Verfügung.

Für die Mitgliedschaft fällt eine \textbf{einmalige} Aufnahmegebühr von \EUR{20} an. Um Mitglied zu werden, registrieren Sie sich bitte unter \mbox{\url{https://reg.stustanet.de}} und werfen Sie den unterschriebenen Mitgleidsantrag in unseren Briefkasten (in Haus 10) ein. Die Sprechstunden finden in Haus 10, Zimmer 002 (Kellergeschoss) statt. Meist Donnerstags 19:00-19:30 Uhr und zu Beginn des Semesters zusätzlich Montags 19:00-19:30 Uhr. An Feiertagen entfallen die Sprechstunden.

\section*{Netzwerkkonfiguration}
\subsection*{Verbinden eines Computers oder eines Routers mit der Netzwerkdose}
Das Einrichten der Internetanbindung besteht aus folgenden Teilen:

\item Konfiguration der Netzwerkeinstellungen im Betriebssystem oder des Routers
\item (Nur für Nicht-Mitglieder) Eintragen des Proxyservers bzw. -skripts im Browser

Verwenden Sie ausschließlich die \emph{linke} Netzwerkbuchse.\\
Falls der Router mit den Netzwerkeinstellungen konfiguriert wird, so darf das Betriebssystem nicht auch konfiguriert werden!\\
Sollten Probleme bei der Verbindung zum Netzwerk auftreten, so ist der Besuch der Seite\\
\mbox{\url{http://selftest.stustanet.de}} hilfreich, während man mit dem nicht funktionierenden Netz verbunden ist. Hierbei wird eine Diagnose erstellt. Falls die Seite nicht erreichbar ist oder eine Fehlermeldung angezeigt wird, so ist die Netzwerkkonfiguration fehlerhaft.\\
